“The time has come for me to ‘bow out’ and enter another journey of my life. I have enjoyed my nearly 37 years at this office – we have had a few name changes over the years but still worked in the same office.
I started in 1980 and worked 9.00 am to 3.00 pm to work in with our two children at school. Unfortunately, they left school and I then worked full time until a few years ago when I reduced to four days a week and over the last 15 months I have only worked three days a week.
I have enjoyed the challenge – I remember 1986 when GST was introduced and at that stage, GST was completed manually. A big change for clients bringing papers in every two months instead of a box arriving from April onwards, containing 12 months papers. Some were neatly filed – others were dumped in a box to sort out. GST certainly helped clients to manage preparing annual accounts. Now GST is completed online and information easier collated for end of financial year. Computers have changed the way we work but certainly very frustrating at times especially in power breaks or upgrades.
I have enjoyed working with and helping clients we have serviced over the years and wish them all well for the future.
Rob and I intend to extend our travelling as we have children and grandchildren in Dubai and Brisbane. We also intend to make better use of our camper trailer.

Dorothea’s last day in our Opunake office is 31 May 2017 (10.30am – 3.30pm) and she would like to extend an invitation to all her Opunake clients to call in for a cuppa and a chat and to say farewell.
